Prof. Dr. Helen Abel (geb. Vester)

Nach dem Abitur absolvierte ich mein Medizinstudium an der Ludwig-Maximilians Universität in München und der der Harvard Medical School in Boston. Meine Approbation erlangte ich im Jahre 2008, ebenso die Promotion mit dem Thema: Analyse der nukleären Translokation und DNA-Bindungsaktivität von STAT1 und STAT3 im polytraumatisierten Patienten in der frühen posttraumatischen Phase.

In diesem Jahr begann ich meine Facharztweiterbildung in der Klinik für Unfallchirurgie des Klinikums rechts der Isar der TU München unter Leitung von Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ullrich Stöckle (später Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Biberthaler). Es folgten Rotationen in die Orthopädie des Klinikums rechts der Isar der TU München (Prof Dr. R. Gradinger und Prof. Dr. von Eisenhart-Rothe) und die Sportorthopädie (Prof. Dr. A. Imhoff). 2014 erlangte ich die Facharztbezeichnung Unfallchirurgie und Orthopädie. Nach meiner  Habilitation im Jahre 2015 (Altersbedingte Immunsystemänderungen beeinflussen die Rekonvaleszenzfähigkeit nach Trauma und den Knochenstoffwechsel) erlangte ich 2017 außerdem die Zusatzbezeichnung Handchirurgie. Seit 2015 bin ich im Klinikum rechts der Isar für Unfallchirurgie als Oberärztin der Handchirurgie tätig.

Schon früh habe ich neben der Leidenschaft für die Handchirurgie das Interesse an der Ästhetischen Medizin entdeckt und in diesem Bereich zahlreiche Kurse und Fortbildungen besucht. Hier ist mein Leitmotiv die Erhaltung und Förderung der Persönlichkeit und der natürlichen Schönheit.

Neben meiner klinischen Tätigkeit halte ich seit Jahren auf nationalen und internationalen Kongressen Vorträge und bin als Instruktor für handchirurgische Kurse geladen. Ferner berate ich Medizinfirmen und bin an der Entwicklung neuer Implantate und Techniken involviert.

Seit Beginn meiner Karriere, habe ich zahlreiche klinischen Studien geleitet und wissenschaftliche Projekte beraten und betreut.  Das Ergebnis daraus sind unzählige wissenschaftliche Veröffentlichungen in hoch angesehenen nationalen und internationalen Fachmagazinen.
